La Mandragore

I first stumbled across La Mandragore last Summer, purely by chance when the fully booked terrace happened to catch my eye. Always on the lookout for good eating places to recommend to our guests,  I made a mental note to eat there one day.

This week was my birthday and we had a good excuse to go – not that market research ever really needs an excuse! We weren’t disappointed.

The food was delicious ….

Set "menu ouvrier" ( workers' menu ) of tomato velouté, crème brulée of foie gras, bouillabaise, basmati rice, cheese and a banana nem

sweet & sour caramelised pork with artichoke & purple potato purees & home made pasta

Aubergine crumble with orange flower honey ice cream

Outside there is also a herb garden where they grow all their own herbs and edible flowers.

The service was friendly & attentive too which is always a good sign as all too often that can be hard to find. It could have been a bit faster but I suppose if you’re on holiday that may not matter too much!

They have lots of very positive comments on Trip Advisor too so it would seem like our first impressions may be right.

Consistency ,of course is key.

We may well have to go again a few more times just to be sure…!
